A 11 Days Greek Mainland & Island exploration

Highlights

This is a tailor made private tour with a state licensed tour guide for the entire trip traveling with the small group. You will be transported in a luxury private vehicle thru' out the mainland Greece. 


A MUST   for the History and Food lovers! This tour includes private guided tour and entrance to Archaeological  Sites in Mainland Greece. 

Activities

D1 -  Athens

Arrive at Athens International Airport and transfer to hotel to unwind from jet lag.  Depending on your arrival time, a short visit will be decided. For your first night, it's better to relax,  while being oriented on the rest of your tour.


D2 -  Athens & Sounio

Early in the morning, after breakfast, your  state licensed guide will meet you at your hotel and you will start your guided to the Acropolis, the UNESCO World Heritage site. You will have the opportunity to marvel and learn everything about the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechthion and off course the Parthenon, all located on the sacred rock of the Acropolis.


Next you will embark on  your private vehicle and enjoy 1 hr panoramic vehicle tour to more distant but equally important sites of the city, such as the Panathinaic Stadium, the site of the first modern Olympic Games ,  Presidential Palace, Zappeion, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, Hadrian’s Gate, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Syntagma Square, the Catholic Cathedral and the Athens Classical Trilogy.


Afterwards, you will depart to Sounio for a Sunset views.  Immerse yourself in the blue waters of the Aegean Sea and enjoy an utterly beautiful site close to Athens.  Once you arrive to Sounio, you will enjoy a guided tour to the archaeological site. After some relaxed time for photo shoot, you can head back to Athens.


D3 - Corinth, Mycenae & Nafplio

After breakfast, on your way to Peloponnese, you will make a short stop at the famous Corinth Canal connecting the Gulf of Corinth with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. Though only completed in the late 19th century, it has been an idea of many and a dream dating back over 2000 years! 


Then, you will head to the archaeological site of Mycenae, for a guided tour. You will get to admire the monumental remains that beautifully blend with the surrounding landscape. . After the guided tour, you will head to Nafplio, where you may enjoy lunch and then check-in at your hotel.


Take some time to relax and in the afternoon, you may enjoy a short orientation tour around this little gem of Peloponnese.


D4 - Epidaurus, Olympia, Nafpaktos & Arachova

Early in the morning, after breakfast, you will depart to Epidaurus for a short guided visit, to admire the ancient theatre and the famous Asklepieion. Once the tour comes to an end, you will depart to Olympia for a guided tour to the archaeological site of Ancient Olympia. Olympia is the most celebrated sanctuary of ancient Greece and the birthplace of the most significant athletic event of all times-the Olympic Games. 


You will enjoy lunch and then depart to Arachova. During your drive, you will have the opportunity to cross the Rio-Antirrio Bridge, an impressive construction that is the longest multi-span cable-stayed fully suspended bridge in the world. 


You will have a short stop for coffee and light snack at Nafpaktos, a picturesque town with an intense medieval style and a relaxing atmosphere. Famous as the location of the great naval battle of Lepanto in 1571 AD, the small port of Nafpaktos charms visitors at first sight, while a large Venetian Castle dominates on the hill above the town. You will then continue towards Arachova, where you will overnight.


D5 - Arachova, Delphi & Kalambaka

Early in the morning, after breakfast, you will embark your private minibus and head to Delphi for a guided tour to the unique archaeological site and the Museum. Once believed to be the Centre of the world and the site at which Apollo spoke through his oracle, Delphi is one of the most important Archaeological sites of Greece. 


On your way to Meteora, you can make a short stop for lunch in one of the numerous villages. After a scenic drive, approximately 3.5 hours, you will arrive in the magnificent setting of Meteora. Check-in at the hotel and time to freshen up. If you wish to marvel the sunset, your driver can drive to a secret spot that overlooks Meteora Rocks! The view from above is marvellous! In the evening, you may enjoy dinner in one of the traditional restaurants of Kalambaka.


Dec 7 - Meteora, Thermopylae & Athens

After breakfast you will depart from your hotel, to explore the Meteora rocks and visit 2 to 3 monasteries. This morning will be dedicated to thorough exploration of the Meteora Monasteries. You will discover the natural beauty and the cultural heritage of this area. You will be taken back to the dark ages and the story of the first hermits and monks who laid the foundations of what later on became the monastic community of Meteora.


Once the tour comes to an end, you may enjoy lunch in one of the traditional local restaurants. After lunch, you will depart to Athens. On your way, you will make a short stop to Thermopylae battlefield, where the famous battle of the 300 Spartans, led by Leonidas against the Persian Army in 480 AD, took place.


On reaching Athens, check-in to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the evening


D8 - D10 - Greek Island

D8 - After Breakfast, you will be taken to Athens airport for your flight to one of the Greek island.  Once reaching the island you will be transported to your local hotel for Check-in. Rest of the day relax and enjoy the greek island and its views / beach; 

D9 - Tour of the island with your choice of activities* (water sports / hiking etc.,) to experience

D10 - Relaxed day on the beaches of the island / hotel pool & spa service.  


Dec 11 - Flight back home

Based on your return flight to your home country, you will be transported to the Greek island airport for connection to Athens airport. From Athens airport, you will take your flight back home.
